career breeders who plop children from their wombs with reckless abandon solely in order to collect Other People's Money should be sterilised, along with the men who impregnate them. These are the 'parents' who don't want their children and end up beating them to death. They are scum, no better than the other scum—politicians—who pay them to breed in exchange for their votes.Clearly the person who wrote/said that is an authoritarian who is happy to inflict unpleasant surgical procedures on those he doesn't approve of.
Of course, it's Lindsay Perigo, the Objectivist. He was writing about an incident at a decile one school where a ten year old student savagely bit a teacher. The child is clearly troubled, but it seems the Perigo solution is to administer a beating, rather than therapy.
Objectivists worship a goddess called Ayn Rand. They are a religion in every sense of the word. They have a series of core beliefs that have no grounding in reality, they have a number of religious books, and most importantly everyone who disagrees with them must be condemned.
Objectivists are supposedly guided largely by libertarian ideals, but the Perigo variety appears more authoritarian than libertarian. He at least has the sense to realise how his opinions are likely to be received:
"This last proposal will no doubt be denounced as a violation of the scum's rights by liberal fascists who wouldn't recognise a right if they fell over one," Perigo notes. "Unfortunately for them, there is no such thing as a right to breed at others' expense.You know someone is intellectually bankrupt when they throw around phrases such as "liberal fascists", without any clue as to what they mean, and include terms like "Neville Key" in the titles of their blogs without any hint of humour or irony.
The real secret behind the Perigo creed is not "enlightened self interest", as the Objectivists would like to have you think, but pure selfishness. Someone is costing him money, so regardless of their circumstances let's just sterilise her.
Because Perigo is such a man of such odious opinions, I will induct him into my Hall of Shame - as an Ordinary Member.
And because his brand of Objectivism is so objectionable (not to mention downright nutty), I will also make him a member of the Order of the Tin Foil Hat.
