He spends $30,000 out of his parliamentary leader's fund on the "Axe the Tax" bus tour, and it's almost the only fact the media reports about the tour.
John Key spends $200,000 on National Party propaganda on National Standards and barely anyone notices.
Goff has an image problem, and the media just won't focus on the positive. He needs to take some lessons from his rival:
- smile more
- mangle his words. That will make him more endearing and loveable
- don't get bogged down in detail. Why all this policy talk? Have you noticed that when someone starts to talk about something in great detail they go all serious and frowny?
- arrange more photo ops with All Blacks
- invite a member of the Royal Family to New Zealand and get photographed having a beer with him/her
- go on holiday a lot
- save the whales
- stop making such an effort. Really, getting on a bus and stopping at every small town is just so goddamn tiring. Relax!
