Let It Go, Dude!

David Farrar has written yet another post slamming Pete Bethune. It has become an obsession for Farrar, and it's amusing to watch. That Bethune was a bit of a hothead and said and did things most normal people wouldn't, isn't actually a surprise to anyone. Farrar needs to let it go.

I wonder how many Farrar has managed to convince within the Kiwiblog echo-chamber. Not many, I suspect. They would have already been dead-set against Bethune. He is, after all, a protester. He mixes with other protesters. That will make him worse than Stalin in the eyes of most of the rabid Kiwiblog regulars.

So why all the effort? Is there something about Bethune that leaves Farrar feeling threatened? If so, what?

Answers please! (and let's not be too defamatory now)

  1. On the one hand, one could do a whole pop-psychology thing about self loathing, you know, Pete Bethune's insouciance to power, authority and deference is the picture of Dorian Grey to a man who seems to crave all of that.

On the other hand, it might just be Farrar is nothing but a full blown authoritarian prick who loathes anyone who dare question the "proper" order of things he thinks he is part of.

  2. Oh! I just had another thought. Maybe it is just another iteration of this government favourite PR tactic, the "Natasha Fuller play" - an all out character assassination of anyone who dares cross them?
