The Day Sutcliffe Top Scored With Eleven

The Herald asks if the 4-0 loss to Bangladesh is NZ cricket's lowest moment yet.

It certainly isn't. This is:

It would take a masterfully inept performance to come close.

Update: NZ cricket great John Reid says the Bangladesh result is worse that the 26. Well he would, wouldn't he? He'd be quite pleased to get that particular monkey off his back. But I think he's also being a bit insulting towards Bangladesh. They are improving. Unlike NZ.

  1. Our present lot of sorry specimens may give this sad record a nudge unless they put the fancy shots away and start playing grit and determination. There's plenty of talent there, but there are days for fancy shots and there are days for grafting. Where's the coach in all this? Mind you, one would think that personal pride and application, would be sufficient. I don't recall Turner, Wright, Bradman, Sutcliffe, etc etc depending on a coach to get their heads in the right place.

  2. I agree with John Reid.
This current teams collective ego well outweighs it's ability.
The team-work and work-ethic of the 'deshies put the "black caps" to shame.
I was going to take my son to Eden Park to watch the BC's but now I don't think I will bother.
