What Labour Needs To Do To Regain Power
[this not very clever post has been deleted on the grounds of poor taste. I has it.]

Not funny or true, Scott - Palinesque and in very poor taste. Please take this post down.
ReplyDeleteOkay, so my "edgy" humour crossed the line maybe. Done.
ReplyDeleteScott....where's your backbone gone?
ReplyDeleteWe early risers enjoy edgy humour and a little risk-taking.
Do you think the finger of suspicion might point at you, should the unthinkable happen?
And it was funny. Poor taste yes, but Key's behaviour has been in extremely poor taste and there are many calling for his head.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the support, but I probably did cross a line. When I write a dumb post (which is quite often) I generally leave it up and take whatever punishment is due to me for my stupidity. But when something is offensive, lacking in profundity and not even funny, the decision to delete is the right one.
ReplyDeleteThe decision to post something at 1am, on the other hand, is usually the wrong one.
Almost two years and only one post deleted is pretty good going though.
Bad taste - yes; accurate - yes. Without John Key National really would be the Emperor without Clothes. Think back to the Kirk Labour government - that only lasted one term thanks to a combination of sheer bad luck (Kirk's death, a lacklustre successor and the first oil crisis) and National's appalling and ultimately reckless opportunism (superannuation for all and dismantling the super scheme set up by Labour).
ReplyDeleteThat said even if something did happen to JK, Goff is no Muldoon. We should be grateful for small mercies then.
Key has enjoyed uncanny luck thus far. He fell from the stage at the Chinese New Year, but made money and increased his popularity by selling the cast on Trademe. I suppose that if he were to die, his casket would be up for auction the day after the internment and would fetch a pretty price.
ReplyDeleteAnd in the bad taste but funny category this just in from the US

My family and I wanted to drop you a short note to tell you how pleased we are with the great strides you are making in your recovery.
In our country's spirit of understanding and forgiveness, we want you to know that we bear no grudge against you for shooting President
Reagan.
We are fully aware that mental stress and pain could have driven you to such an act of desperation. We're confident that you will soon make a complete recovery and return to your family to join the world again as a healthy and productive man.
Best wishes,
Nancy Reagan & Family
P.S. While you have been incarcerated, Barack Obama has been banging Jodie Foster like a screen door in a tornado. You might want to look into that.
IF is my favourite blog. You've been in blisteringly good form this year.
ReplyDeleteWith your wit and a little more thought, chances are a post on this theme could have been funny.
