People in Somalia are dying in their thousands, and yet it has taken six weeks for Murray McCully to get off his arse and tell aid agencies when they can have the $2 million he promised them.
It has taken media pressure for McCully to finally relent and tell agencies who gets the first $1 million. God knows what has happened to the other million.
It seems pretty obvious that when aid money is required for a famine the money's going to be needed urgently. The fact it has taken six weeks is disgraceful and inexcusable. It's not as if the amount we're donating is all that significant as aid contributions go anyway.
I hope someone holds the minister's feet over the fire for this. It's outrageous when so many people are in need.
'God knows what has happened to the other million.'
ReplyDeleteOne would hope it won't turn up in Libya...
Hey, isn't that John Key signing a pregnant womens tummy over there? Isn't he a lovely man!
ReplyDeleteAs with too much that passes for "Government" there should be hell to pay for this, but there won't. BTW where were Labour on this?
ReplyDeleteSorry, wasn't part of the press cycle. Phil Goff is a bad leader because he's unpopular. Anyway, stop complaining. Complaining is losing. Winners don't complain, they win. McCully holding up the food of starving (losing) children isn't important.
