Here's you, predicting how this weekend's Q&A show will go:
Toby Manhire from the Baby Boomer Listener will tweet something during the show that only Findlay McDonald, two bloggers at the Standard and Scott Yorke will find amusing. Not so much a circle jerk, as a square jerk.I actually have better things to do on a Sunday morning than watch TV (like build Lego with my kids and do the chores). I could count on the fingers of one hand the number of times I've ever watched Q&A.
It seems clear that in your feverish imagination I am the representative of all that is wrong with the world, but that's cool. I'm not here to tell you how you should think.
But maybe it's time to accept, Martyn, that you have a problem. You've become irrelevant. Your ranting and raving was very endearing when you were younger, but aren't broadcasters supposed to mature and develop?
And, seriously, do you really believe abusing and insulting anyone with a more nuanced opinion than your own on any particular topic makes you influential?
I suppose I should just be grateful that the best my adversary can offer is a lame masturbation metaphor. Maybe your average reader is fourteen years old and that sort of humour works on your site, but I felt kind of sad for you when I read it.
Surely you can do better than that.
You must admit his points about Claire Robinson were spot on though...
ReplyDeleteIrrelevant, Scott? Open Parachute ranks Martyn's blog at No. 12 in New Zealand. He hosts both "Citizen A" and "The Union Report" on Triangle TV, and was asked by the organisers of the campaign to save TVNZ7 to chair their nationwide series of meetings. As an opinion leader he is certainly not in the same league as Mike Hosking or Fran O'Sullivan, but "irrelevant"? I think not.
ReplyDeleteInteresting analysis Chris. Martyn described the move by Media & to TV3 and becoming Media 3 as a move to the ghetto....if TV3 is the ghetto of New Zealand television then what pray tell is Triangle TV which broadcast terrestrial only?
Delete71 years young Tumeke [Martyn,s blog] reader -
ReplyDeleteCertainly Martyn,s blog was more interesting than Q & A this week,
too many Government Ministers [good at spin but with inappropriate policies for this time].
I enjoyed his joke at your expense, isn't it better to laugh at ourselves? here I include all intelligent political followers.
Right now anyone standing up for public service TV & broadcasting scores highly with me and Martyn's certainly doing that.
As an opinion leader he is way ahead of Fran O'Sullivan and Mike Hosking !
It's not joking with Bomber Brabury though. If it takes offence at something you write or just dislikes your position he goes out of his way to attack you. That I feel is the main reason why he is no longer relevant as any sort of political voice in this country
ReplyDeleteYou published and promoted my contact details on your site you sanctimonious twat and have the audacity to claim to be the offended party? Not even the right wing publish contact details on line Scott, why is a Labour Party hack using these types of tactics? I've responded to this on my original post and have noted that while you can hand it out, you certainly can't take it.
ReplyDeleteDisgusting gutter tactics Scott that only reflect poorly on you. Promoting my contact details online and showing everyone where they can find it shows a terrible lack of judgement on your behalf.
A blogger and media commenter who doesn't want to be contacted?
Delete...hmmmm...if you are going to be a spokes person for whatever rent a mob outrage comes next you'll need more than Facebook and a Twitter account to be contacted on.
Martyn, I have already explained that I have no idea who's behind that other site.
DeleteAs for publishing and promoting your contact details, all I did was post a link to a site in order to make it clear I had nothing to do with it. I became aware of the site because my blog was getting multiple hits from it. The secret was already out.
