So John Key now claims he didn't commit New Zealand to assist the US in future wars.
He is claiming that the transcript of his speech contains an error.
But I listened to the recording of his speech, and when I block my ears just after the words "welcome the opportunities", and hum loudly while trying to channel the life forces of Penny Bright, John Pilger, Noam Chomsky and John Minto, I clearly hear the words "we will do everything we can to aid the cause of aggressive US imperialism, even to the point of brutally murdering opponents of the US in our own country, covertly installing compliant puppets as leaders of New Zealand's opposition political parties, and disposing of anyone who questions in any way America's corporate hegemony."
This is excellent news for all those corporate hegemony fans out there.
Oh, and here is a picture of John Key eating a baby.

Who taught you to 'block my ears just after the words "welcome the opportunities", and hum loudly while trying to channel the life forces of Penny Bright, John Pilger, Noam Chomsky and John Minto, I clearly hear the words...' - authors at The Standard?
ReplyDeleteI take it then you'll be happy to be seeing our troops pulled from Afghanistan then... This is another good op for Key to stand next to the US and smell real power, yes. And while I see some benefit in this matey attitude with the world's top dog, adopting a position analagous to Aussie (i.e. in the back pocket) is not desirable.
ReplyDeleteInteresting though, how we tend to see a good (or bad) US nod in our direction as somehow legitimising (or undermining) our foreign policy (look at the RIMPAC drama).
We do have a lot of soft power, alot of it earned from confronting the US. Key would do well to remember that...
That is so unkind to the Standard and Russell Brown's followers
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of corporate hegemony so really looking forward to the TPPA.
