I'm over half-way towards my target of eating four bits of toast for breakfast today. I've been training hard, and with a little more effort I should be able to finish the job.
I began my training regime about three months ago, and I'm pleased with my progress so far. My ultimate breakfast goal is to eat four bits of toast, a doughnut, a plate full of greasy bacon, and an avocado.
If I nail today's target I reckon I'll be on the home straight!
Hardly the home straight. That's just a warm up for the main event, the breakfast pie, to fulfill your New Year's resolution.
ReplyDeleteYou just had to ruin it with an avocado, didn't you?
ReplyDeleteHowver, you have some way to go before you reach the dizzying consumption of that distinguished Edwardian naval officer, the First Sea Lord lord Louis Battenburg. Prince Louis was a noted big eater in an age of big appetites. Battenburg's Flag Captain in 1912 tells us:
"Prince Louis was a big man and had a big man's appetite. At breakfast he began on porridge then fish, then eggs and bacon or a meat dish, then a large plate of cold ham, then hot muffins or crumpets and then a lot of toast, butter and jam and finish on fruit. His meal would have fed an Officers' mess."
Surprisingly, a picture from around that time of Battenburg shows him to be not particularly fat, although by the look on his face he does appear to be sucking in his tummy for the photo:
