It's obligatory these days for bloggers to say something about themselves. As obligatory as those tiresome mission statements large organisations are required to churn out.
So what do you need to know about me? My name is Scott. I'm a lawyer. I somehow find the time to run a blog.
I mostly blog about the news and politics. My political leanings are towards the left, though I'm a moderate, and I have no desire to raise the flag of socialist rebellion any time soon. I actually like some aspects of capitalism, but don't tell that to any of my leftie friends.
I have no time for extremists of any colour, nor do I tolerate conspiracy theorists.
I am a member of the Labour Party and am fearlessly independent of all external influences. Although you may decide that those two things are contradictory.

This blog is my own, and it doesn't represent the opinions of anyone other than me. Especially not my employers. If you don’t like something I wrote don’t go thinking someone else put me up to it (although it could have been my wife. I do as I'm told when I'm at home).
Nor does anything on this blog represent legal advice. This is my hobby, not a job. I don’t give legal advice over the blogosphere. Sorry.

- This is a personal blog. By that I mean it isn’t a money-making venture. If it was I’d be the worst businessman in history, because I’ve not made a single cent from this. Besides, why advertise when nobody’s going to see the adverts? You need site traffic if you want advertising revenue.
- All that is a very roundabout way of saying that if I inadvertently infringe someone’s copyright on this site, don’t worry because I didn’t profit by it. Drop me an email and, if your complaint is legitimate, I’ll take the material down.
- If you’re in the news media and want to use anything on this site, go for it. I am vain, however, so a mention would be nice.
- All copyright works on this site are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 licence. That’s explained here. In reality I don’t much care what you do with the material on this site, so long as if you’re copying my stuff you tell people where you got it from.
- If you’re wanting to copy third party material on the site then it’s your responsibility (not mine) to make sure you can use and copy it.

- Don’t wilfully insult or defame me or other commenters.
- Don’t spam me.
- Don’t go out of your way to piss me off. I am pretty thick-skinned and can take most things, but everyone has their buttons.
- Please put a name or moniker to your comment. I no longer accept anonymous comments.
